And great to see...Great to see you're back :-)

And great to see some medieval floor tiles. As you say, they're all too often overlooked but to me they always seem *precious* somehow even when they're actually crude and simple, probably because there just aren't that many of them left...mrk3nxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10517521707164165010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3313295143497097608.post-5580668073260268572011-11-18T21:20:52.480+00:002011-11-18T21:20:52.480+00:00Echo of the sentiments above.
Is the lettering ...Echo of the sentiments above.

Is the lettering of the memorial brass inlaid with metal or enamel, or is this an optical effect?

In the mid 50's, when quite young, on a trip to Dale Abbey, we discovered an archaeological refuse pile which consisted largely of broken, but otherwise well-preserved, square glazed tiles - animals and crowned heads, second half 13th century. I collected a number, but foolishly (I very much regret the transaction today) traded them for a coins some years later.Lapinbizarrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07686990585795363001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3313295143497097608.post-85638475184232936942011-11-16T10:37:30.271+00:002011-11-16T10:37:30.271+00:00It is good to see you back!It is good to see you back!Anthony Symondson SJnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3313295143497097608.post-67703151086524282122011-11-13T20:44:06.411+00:002011-11-13T20:44:06.411+00:00Great to see you're back :-)
